In the 1920's or the Roaring Twenties, there was an era of peace and tranquility with both the end of WWI and the Temperance movement in full effect.
Out of the 1920's, many inventions were created that helped improve peoples lives and transform society into a modern age.
Here are a few:
Ford Model T:
- Used Combustion engine rather than steam.
- Allowed people to move more freely across the Country.
- Created more jobs and allowed for a manufacturing boom in Detroit.
Band Aid 1920:
- Invented by Earl Dickson while working for Johnson and Johnson
- Created for accident prone wife Josephine.
- Later, Mass production began
Hair Dryers:
- Before women would used vaccum cleaners with a hose attached to back.
Penicillin (1920):
- Invented by Sir Alexander Fleming in 1920.
- First Antibiotic Made by man.
- Very effective because bacteria did not have anitibiotic resistance.
Traffic Lights: (1926)
- Robert Goddard invented Traffic Lights in 1926
- Initally used for arms purposes.
- NASA and missles still use same principles today.
Frozen Foods (1929)
- Invented by Clarence Birdseye in 1929
- Used high pressured gas to preserve food.
- Later created his own packaging company.
Overall, the 1920's was an era of growth in technology and inventions.
